Description
There is something extra special about the people who have the ability to grow flowers.
This is a picture of a bouquet that was given to me by a friend who grows many flowers. She always offers me a bouquet when I see her in the right seasons. I never felt particularly drawn to having flowers in my space—until I met her.
I think I was hung up on the patriarchal Valentine’s concept of them. As someone who really hates the commercialism of those kinds of things, it made flowers feel off-putting to me.
But as I’ve connected more deeply to nature and all the different pieces it offers, I’ve become very connected to flowers. I love that there are so many types—some that bloom quickly, some that last a really long time, some that bloom again and again, and others that only have one cycle.
Receiving an offering grown by someone feels completely different than receiving flowers grown by a big company whose goal is profit, not beauty. There’s heart in it. Intention. Presence.
This journal is a reminder that we all have the ability to grow beautiful things in a world that offers something different.
What beauty can you grow? And as you share that beauty, what does it offer to the collective?
What does it offer to those who come into your space?
